I have made a few mosaic pieces before…some turned out…and…well others didn’t. Just a side note if you are going to attach a mirror to a piece of wood and do mosaic work around it, any old adhesive won’t do. You need mirror adhesive!!! I found that out the hard way! For this piece I used vintage tea cups and saucers. I broke them up randomly and attached them to this glass vase. I also used flat back glass circles. They come in handy for so many things. I really like the fact that I added them to this piece it gives it more of a bling effect! Let me know what you think about it. Also tell me about some DIY mosaic projects you have been working on!
This is a collection of whimsical “Knobby Kneed Kranes” I have painted on upcycled wooden items,
I have found at garage sales and thrift shops. Don’t you just love upcycling things…to see what you can come up with. We are only limited by our imaginations. I hope you find inspiration in my collection to upcycle some of your findngs!
I got my brush damp and double loaded paint to give the cabinet an interesting distressed aged look. I followed the grain of the wood as I painted on the colors.
I then removed some of the paint around the edges, with sandpaper, to give it a worn look.
I then buffed the cabinet with car polish. This left a very smooth protective coat.
Here are a few close up pictures.
I’d love to hear your comments!

I used lots of coordinating paper to cover the box.
