UpCycled Mosaic Vase

UpCycled Mosaic Vase
UpCycled Mosaic Vase

I have made a few mosaic pieces before…some turned out…and…well others didn’t.  Just a side note if you are going to attach a mirror to a piece of wood and do mosaic work around it, any old adhesive won’t do.  You need mirror adhesive!!!  I found that out the hard way!  For this piece I used vintage tea cups and saucers.  I broke them up randomly and attached them to this glass vase.  I also used flat back glass circles.  They come in handy for so many things.  I really like the fact that I added them to this piece it gives it more of a bling effect!  Let me know what you think about it.  Also tell me about some DIY mosaic projects you have been working on!

“Knobby Kneed Kranes” Small Wooden Box

The colors on this small box are glorious! Don’t you think. I have added a black and white checker board pattern to the inside of the box…for a bit more whimsy! 10-25-2012 352 10-25-2012 347 10-25-2012 348 10-25-2012 350

Mixed Media: Upcycled 8-Track storage box

I made this little picnic wine box from an upcycled 8-track storage box. This is what it looked like before I began. I did remove the divider section from the inside.

I picked out lots of craft paper…Kindly donated to me from my sister at “Matties Attic” https://www.etsy.com/shop/mattiesattic
She has way more craft supplies than I do…we trade back and forth. I love that she is into making crafts and things also!

So anyway back to the box. I cut a slit in the paper to go over the handle. I can trim away the excess with a SHARP ulility knife, after I get it in place. 11-28-2013 049

I used Modge Podge to attach the paper to the box.. I also have to trim around the hinges.

I used lots of coordinating paper to cover the box.

I folded the edges of the paper to the inside of the box.11-28-2013 052

Okay….you can see it’s almost completely covered.

I sealed the outside of the box with Modge Podge. I also proped the box open until it dried.

I found this awesome garden scene page from a magazine…..

And this saying—How perfect! As you can see here I tore pieces of paper to cover the inside of the box.11-28-2013 059

I used a large wall stencil ( that’s what I had on hand) to add some color and texture to the box. I simply dabbed on three shades, randomly.12-09-2013 030

I then added three dimensional butterflies and rub on ones. A few flat back beads in a circular pattern, a french letter stamp and stenciled on the word Paris.12-09-2013 032

I then made this adorable tag…Ha…the blank tag is also from my sisters craft supply stash! 12-09-2013 04012-09-2013 039

On to the inside….I added some paper flowers…I simply love these! Butterflies, ribbon, flat back beads and paint to finish off the inside.
