About Me

Hi…and welcome to my Blog! Here is where I want to tell you a little bit about me and my art journey! First of all I will formally introduce myself. My name is Peggy Sowers-Heckman. My friends and family call me “Pem”! I love it!
I am a mom of 4 wonderful adult children and a grandmother of 3 grandloves. I am married to a wonderful supportive man. If it weren’t for him and his belief in my art I wouldn’t be able to devote as much time as I do into my art journey.

From time to time you will see, here on my blog…room makeovers, on a budget of course. You might even see pictures of family time together. Maybe even a glimpse into my messy studios where I create all of my artwork. (I have two rooms now!)
I will be adding videos of me making things…I am not sure what yet! I think it’s going to be a surprise for me too! Because, I guess when the idea comes to me…you guys will be the first to know!

My art is a bit whimsical…my jewelry is a bit blingy! I am always experiencing different approaches to making art..when I say “ART” I mean jewelry too…well it’s art jewelry..right!

So I have been painting, decorating, gardening, doing whatever I could that made me feel like I was using my creative side of my brain..LOL…I am not quite sure I have another side! I am not a techy person at all. I hope to teach myself how to be..so I can use Photoshop and Illustrator at some point.

I am getting a bit off track….

In early 2000…I was running my business name under “The Picket Fence”. At that time I was making wood crafts. You know the ones slightly primitive with a bit of whimsy. I had a few craft pattern books published and over 100 wood craft patterns packets. I also had a few of my designs published in “WoodStrokes” magazine. I had my own little shop in our town and I was doing the craft show circuit and also the painting convention circuit! How exciting is that! But my children were young and my husband started a trucking company and needed my help. So I set aside my dreams and did what I needed to do at the time.

Then in 2012..I started making jewelry..under the name of “Clover Moon Designs” I didn’t even know what anything was called..or even how beads were measured and sized…so I purchased lots and lots of books and taught myself as much as I could and started making jewelry! But I never lost the love for painting! I still make jewelry too…as you can see!

In 2014…I opened myself a little shop again in our town…I planned to teach people how to paint and to be creative! This was nick named “Lushes with Brushes”! Everyone loved it..I was so excited to be back into painting again.  I had this shop for only a few months.  We became full time grandparents (Parents raising my 5 year old grandson).

So once again situations in my life changed and my husband and I made a decision to raise my 5 year old grandson, until his living situation at home changed for the better. He is now 7 and back home and doing well.  *(Update 9-30-2016)*  Riley is back with us!

( I am still creating and painting.  This little energy ball is a bit older and doesn’t require as much one on one attention!)

Sooooo….I am back to creating…painting…and following my dream of someday SOON…I hope very Soon..getting my work licensed!

So it’s time to get this journey started..and you can follow along and wish me luck…and cheer me forward! And hopefully enjoy the art and memories that I am making along the way!!!

LOL (Lots of LOVE) Pem
